The history of Vallepicciola began in 1999 when Bruno Bolfo and his sister Giuseppina decided to renovate an old convent of nuns, abandoned for decades, which was located near their country house in Pievasciata, a small hamlet near Castelnuovo Berardenga, a few kilometers from Siena. Today the convent is a wonderful 5-star hotel that attracts tourists from all over the world.
Near the hotel, in an area with an ideal microclimate for wine production, the farm was born, with 110 hectares of vineyards divided among Sangiovese, mainly intended for the production of Chianti Classico, and international varieties, such as Pinot Nero, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.
The company philosophy is in fact closely linked to its terroir: the principle is that the wines must be a unique expression of their soil, climate, and work carried out in the vineyard and that the vineyard must be worked with a sustainable approach, to be bequeathed to future generations.
The winery, completed in 2016, is a structure in harmony with the surrounding nature and consists of two underground floors in which all the phases of wine production are carried out, and an above-ground, intended for administrative, commercial, and reception activities.
